Unusual Salami and Other Stories

published as an e-book by Smashwords http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/35506

With humour ('Imaginary Col')or strange lyrical horror (the title story) the characters in this collection struggle to make sense of life with sometimes dreadful consequences. Greg is weirdly empowered by reading a book, Anna escapes an enchantment (or does she?) God creates the world and Arkle is... well, Arkle. Although what IS that raggy brown stuff under the tree in 'Pneumonia'?

Available in paperback at Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=unusual+salami+and+other+stories
A great collection from Frances Clarke, I loved The Glassblower's Daughter (if you haven't read it yet, then you must), and these stories were every bit as good.

  2. ooops! it's a new thing

    the address is:
    thebookreviewforfiction@gmail.com

If you look up "Litany" at Smashwords, the profile will tell you why I want to be in touch. You would be one of the first 20, along with me and Peter Darbyshire, also at Smash. Do email me, will you?

  3. I've read the sample of 'Litany' by Mary Travers and I am impressed. It is so hard to find time to join in with everything though. In principle I am enthusiastic to help out with any new literary project but in practice I am constrained by so many other factors [the day job, the family, the actual writing of new stuff, the experimenting with publishing options, the PROOF-READING (aaarghhh the proof-reading!)] that I am a rubbish collaborator for which I apologise to Mary. I will get there but I am slow, Mary.

  4. Oh, thanks for the response.I missed it, because I am paying attentiont to the website and the too-many emails I was trying, and sending notes back and forth to potential writers for the site. I may have to start the site with only four of us (not with you then) because everyone's so busy--makes me feel like letting it go, too and doing my own writing (which I am), but all this back-and-forth takes time. This will be good for you-get your work out to more people.
I've settled on the easiest of addresses now.
    Send anything to : elitfiction@gmail.com
Since you have some books up, what proof-reading? I'm not waiting on anything new from you, but will be happy to put both the Glassblowers Daughter and Unusual Salami up, under appropriate categories. As many pages as you like,up to 50 of each. Reviews, blurbs, if you have them; your website address, and finally, connections to where people may buy them. It IS part of the marketing/publishing. Since your work is up already at smashwords, it shouldn't be much more than cut-and-paste into an email and attaching a jpeg. Perhaps I'm not explaining clearly. I don't know if this post is public, but I'll be happy to send you the password to get in to thebookreviewforfiction.com so you can see an example of the way my or Peter's stuff that is up already (not public, yet). I have other "test junk" up, so I don't want everyone coming yet.
I know you're busy, but it's fairly simple--and then I can open this site and hopefully start attracting more good writers as they "get the drift" of what it can be for them and readers.
Again, I;m trying to cozy into the email at elitfiction@gmail.com. I can't check everyone's blog--no time! Love to hear from you, best at email.
    All best, Mary T
